- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
For the Sauce:
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp sugar

For the Toppings:
- Vegan cheese (store-bought or homemade)
- Assorted vegetables (bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, spinach, etc.)
- Fresh basil or arugula (optional)
- Olive oil for drizzling
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour. Mix until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
2. Make the Sauce:
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the tomato sauce and tomato paste, stirring to combine.
- Add the oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3. Assemble the Pizza:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions for two medium pizzas or keep it whole for one large pizza.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the rolled dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet or preheated pizza stone.
- Spread a layer of tomato sauce over the dough.
- Add your desired vegan cheese and toppings.
- Drizzle a little olive oil over the top.
4. Bake the Pizza:
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the toppings are cooked to your liking.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
5. Serve and Enjoy:
- Top with fresh basil or arugula if desired.
- Slice and enjoy your homemade vegan pizza!
